AI assistants are becoming the first place buyers ask about vendors, tools and solutions. If ChatGPT or Perplexity does not mention you, you are invisible to a fast-growing slice of your market. Here is how to change that.
1. Become a clear entity
AI models reason about the world in entities — named things they understand. Make your brand unambiguous: a consistent name, address and phone (NAP) everywhere, a complete Google Business Profile, a LinkedIn company page, and profiles on Crunchbase and relevant directories. Consistency across these sources tells models that "SERP EDGE" is a real, specific organisation.
2. Publish extractable, quotable content
LLMs quote content that is easy to lift: clear headings, direct definitions, short factual statements, statistics with sources, and comparison or "best of" pages. Write the sentence you would want quoted, then make it the first line under a descriptive heading.
3. Add structured data and an llms.txt file
Schema markup (Organization, Service, FAQPage, Article) helps engines understand what your pages are about. An llms.txt file at your root acts like a friendly map for AI crawlers, pointing them to your most important, most accurate pages.
4. Earn third-party citations
Models weight sources they already trust. Being referenced on Reddit, Quora, YouTube, industry roundups and review platforms (G2, Clutch) dramatically raises the odds of being cited. Genuinely helpful answers in communities your buyers read is one of the highest-leverage GEO activities there is.
5. Measure it
You cannot improve what you do not track. Regularly prompt the major engines with your target questions and record whether — and how — you are mentioned. Watch share of voice against competitors and close the gaps.
